About Riyuegu Hotsprings

Riyuegu Hotsprings is a purpose-built hot spring attraction in Fujian, developed around a naturally occurring mineral hot spring source in its present location just off Xiamen Island. Since opening in November 2003, the attraction has been shaped around sharing its mineral hot spring waters in an environment designed for scale, comfort, and unhurried time. At a time when attraction-style hot spring parks were still emerging in China, Riyuegu was among the early pioneers. Rather than focusing on individual treatments or brief visits, it was conceived as a place where hot springs form the foundation of a complete visitor experience, integrating landscape, wellness, and shared time within a single attraction.

Historical Roots

A Longer Relationship with Hot Springs

Long before Riyuegu was developed as a modern attraction, the hot springs in this area were already known and valued. Historical findings at the site, including the discovery of a stone plaque dating back to the Ming dynasty, suggest that the springs were recognised and appreciated centuries ago.

These traces point to a longstanding relationship between the natural mineral waters and the surrounding region, adding historical depth to a place that continues to be shaped by hot spring culture today. While Riyuegu is a contemporary attraction, it is rooted in a location where the significance of hot spring bathing has endured over time.

Design Philosophy

Built Around Water, Shaped by Landscape

The natural hot spring source at Riyuegu defines the character of the attraction. Rather than placing pools within enclosed structures, the site was designed to integrate water with landscape, creating open-air soaking environments supported by gardens, pathways, and sheltered spaces.

Over time, the attraction has evolved to include a broad range of facilities, including hot spring pools, wellness areas, massage spaces, swimming and activity zones, dining areas, and on-site accommodation, while maintaining its focus on mineral hot spring bathing as the core experience.

Today, Riyuegu Hotsprings Park spans approximately 65,000 square metres, supporting a spacious, attraction-scale environment shaped around water, landscape, and time.

Long-Standing Reputation

An Established Name in Hot Spring Travel

With more than two decades of operation, Riyuegu Hotsprings has become a widely recognised attraction within China’s hot spring landscape. From its early development, it was conceived as an attraction built around mineral hot spring bathing at scale, combining landscape, wellness, and time spent together rather than a single treatment or short visit. Over the years, this approach has shaped Riyuegu’s reputation for scale, variety, and consistency, and established it as an early reference point for attraction-style hot spring development in China.
